Addressing the high rate of Drug Abuse in younger generations, and supporting HIV/AIDS prevention and care in rural villages.

The objective is to develop a network of drug treatment and rehabilitation resource centers, with a view to facilitating dissemination of knowledge and capacity building, therefore increasing access by drug users to effective and diversified drug treatment services that encompasses;

  • Life Skills Training: A school-based program would be implemented for over 3 years which teaches social, emotional, and cognitive skills to help students resist drug, alcohol, and tobacco use.
  • Peer Leader/Helper Programs: These programs will use youth to deliver prevention messages, as they are often more effective at communicating with peers than adults.
  • After-School Alternative Centers: Places that offer drug-free activities, dances, and sports to keep youth engaged and reduce boredom.
  • “Keep in’ it REAL” Model: A multicultural program using student-developed videos and narratives to prevent substance use. 
  • Strengthening Families Program : A seven-session program where parents and youth learn about risk factors, family management, and resistance skills.
  • Nurse-Family Partnership: An initiative providing in-home, nurse-led visits to new, at-risk parents to promote healthy development and prevent future substance issues.
  • Parent Education Workshops: Centers that provide resources like “Growing Up Drug Free: A Parent’s Guide to Substance Use Prevention”. 
  • Community Drop-in Centers: Local hubs providing safe spaces, resources, and counseling to individuals.
  • Communities That Care : A framework that helps community leaders identify local risk factors and implement evidence-based, tailored prevention program
